5 things I did this week to keep my sanity next week

Was that title long enough for you?  I officially go back to work TODAY.  Uggg.  (Actually, I do like my job but who wants to give up the freedom of summer?)  Anyway, I did a couple of things this week to wrap up summer.

Graco Lauren 4-in-1 Convertible Fixed-Side Classic Crib, Choose Your Finish
This is similar to our type but isn't our bed.  Source
My daughter moved into a big girl bed!  While she hadn't actually climbed out of her crib, she had lifted her leg like she was thinking about it.  She also started to dread her bed.  She wanted to sleep with Mommy.  So after a night of her complaining about me moving around too much in bed, we converted her bed to a toddler bed.  I'm glad that we bought a convertible bed.

With this monumental change, I wanted to set up our routines.  I looked at a bunch of routine charts on Pinterest but they weren't EXACTLY our routine.  So I made my own charts.

Cute, simple and hopefully effective.  She can already "read" them so I call that a success.

While I was at it, I printed this chart to make a simple cleaning routine for me.

It's from Clean Mama.  I'm planning on keeping it in my planner

I started watching what I ate with SparkPeople.  I've lost 2 (probably not real) pounds.  Basically, I've been eating bunches of fruits and veggies.

Finally, I tried to soak up every bit of time with my daughter.  We went to Chuck E. Cheese, listened at storytime, saw some animals, played doctor, and read lots of books.  We learned a new dance!

Now that I've passed that ANNOYING song on, go check out some other Five for Friday blogs at Doodle Bugs Teaching

  3. Good for you getting it all together before school starts. Organizing is the key. Like the cleaning checklist... Having a list does not a good housekeeper make, though in my case :P See you later. Kathleen

    1. What? The list won't clean my house for me? I am experiencing this first hand.

  4. Totally understand the new bed! Our daughter started climbing out of her crib at about 2 years of age so she was moved into the bed with her brother. For some reason she would stay in his bed, but not her own. That worked for a few months and then we transitioned into her own real bed! Thanks for sharing!

    1. I hope this toddler bed works for awhile-- I haven't even looked at "real" beds. I think we will do a twin size bed so her toddler bed won't transition to that. I'm hoping that's at least a year down the road.

  6. Your charts are great. Way to work in early literacy skills. Wish I could get my 2 year to use the potty! Two kids in diapers is killing me. Is she staying in her bed? I had to camp out in the hallway for a while, but it's better now.
